By default, opening a shared Google Drive video takes you to Drive’s own file-preview page, complete with the Drive header, sidebar, and file menu wrapped around the video. That’s fine when you’re the one browsing your own Drive, but it’s a clunky experience to hand someone else — especially if you want to drop that video into a blog post, a landing page, or a message without the Drive chrome around it.

You’ll need a public share link before this (or any) tool can play your video. Here’s how to create one.

One limitation worth knowing: this tool can’t bypass Google Drive’s own permission checks or traffic limits. A private link will still prompt a sign-in, and a file that’s hit Drive’s popularity cap will show Drive’s own quota message, regardless of which player it’s opened in.
